The aim of the friends of Shekhawati is to safeguard and preserve Shekhawati's rich artistic heritage including both the remarkable paintings of this region, and the havelis themselves. The societies work includes educating local villagers about the social and artistic importance of the paintings of Shekhawati, as well as undertaking the restoration work and promoting the region. Ramesh Jangid (see under Nawalgarh in northern Rajasthan chapter) is the president of the association. He welcomes the volunteers keen to preserve paintings of Shekhawati. Les Amis du Shekhawati is one of a number of charities whose aim is to safeguard and preserve India's crumbling architectural heritage - in this case the havelis and paintings of Shekhawati region in Rajasthan. Ramesh Jangid is the president of the association.
